Diego Boneta, who played the lead role of Drew Boley in Rock of Ages, poses with The Remedy. Boneta’s sister, Natalia Gonzalaz, is a 9th-grader at Agoura High. His favorite food truck was Let’s Roll It.
Hungry locals sampled gourmet flavors to-go at Agoura High School’s 3rd annual Agoura Munch Madness on Sunday. The festival is a fundraiser which helps support the school’s International Baccalaureate program (IB).
The IB program is a five-year curriculum that offers a unique global perspective for Agoura High students, according to Principal Larry Misel. “The program is about offering a new perspective that engages students and helps instill a lifelong passion for learning,” he said.?
Staffed by volunteer students and faculty members, the event provides more than just mobile gourmet flavors. Activities like face painting, arts and crafts, contests, a raffle, electric car test-driving and live performances were offered throughout the day.
One act in particular rocked the campus—that of Rock Nation band, The Remedy. Kicking out ‘60s jams, the band, made up of four musicians, ages 11 and 12, drew the attention of Diego Boneta, star of the acclaimed rock musical Rock of Ages, who just happened to be perusing the line of four-wheeled fare.
“I was completely blown away by how much fun they were having on stage and how they communicated to the crowd,” said Boneta, who met with the youngsters afterward, half of whom attend Viewpoint School and the others, A.C. Stelle. Boneta was there to support Agoura High, where his sister Natalia Gonzalez attends the ninth grade.
The scheduled appearance of another celebrity—Disney’s Shake it Up star, Kenton Duty—is what drew others to the day’s event, like Agoura High freshman Samantha Johnson and her friend Shannon Fitzpatrick, an eighth grader at Red Creek Middle School.
“We’re holding out for Kenton,” said Shannon, after finishing what she referred to as “the best” nutella crepes from Ooh La La Crepes.
“I got extra nutella,” she smiled.
Diego Boneta, Miles
Diego Boneta recently showed off his singing ability in this past summer’s flick “Rock of Ages,” but his character on “Underemployed,” Miles, is more interested in showing off his abs.
“Miles wants to be the face of Calvin Klein, modeling boxer briefs, doing that stuff. That’s his thing,” Boneta told MTV News. “He’s had to learn to survive and struggle in any circumstance and he’s always willing to do whatever it takes. He’s very easygoing until he falls in love for the first time, and that’s a very cool side to the character because you see him being a ladies’ man, being a free spirit, and then all of a sudden, he falls in love.”
