It’s a year after college graduation and five talented friends find themselves not out changing the world but rather living the title of MTV’s “Underemployed.” “I can’t tell you how many Twitter followers have been saying, ‘This is my life,’ ” says Diego Boneta, who saw the role of aspiring model Miles as an opportunity to escape his comfort zone and expand his acting chops. “This was my first time playing the comedic relief, and it was liberating,” he says. “Miles isn’t so much the clown who comes up with the lines, but a hustler who is willing to do whatever it takes to get a job.” That includes stripping for several older women during an office birthday party, along with other unusual scenarios. With a growing body of work, the 21-year-old Boneta doesn’t find himself much like his “Underemployed” characters. Recent credits include the pic “Rock of Ages” as well as TV’s “Pretty Little Liars” and “90210.” He also has signed with Adam Levine’s 222 Records to work on his third album. As for “Underemployed,” which debuts Oct. 16, Boneta believes the series is about more than simply documenting the job challenges faced by many of today’s twentysomethings. “At the end of the day, the most important thing is sharing your failures and successes with the people who are closest to you,” he says. “None of that matters if you don’t have your family or friends. That’s the core of the show.”
Rock of Ages will be available on Blu-ray, DVD and digital download on Tuesday, October 9th – see below for DVD extras.

In his first major film, Boneta, 21, took the lead opposite Julianne Hough in this summer’s adaptation of Broadway hit Rock of Ages, which got the Mexican actor nominated for an Alma Award (set to air Sept. 21 on NBC) alongside Benicio Del Toro and Andy Garcia. “The most pride would come from hopefully doing a project with one of those actors,” he says. Boneta made a name for himself with roles on The CW’s 90210 and ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars. On Oct. 16, MTV’s Underemployed from producer Craig Wright (Dirty Sexy Money) will premiere with Boneta co-starring. The actor also is a successful singer in Latin America and is working on his first English-language album with The Voice’s Adam Levine, scheduled for release this year or in early 2013.
As a thank you to us fans for voting Diego as ‘Favorite Movie Actor’ at the ALMA Awards, Diego has shared a new song on his Youtube. The song is titled “Lift Me Up” and it sounds great.
